From a Breton garden to an adventurous perfume palette

Yann Vasnier traces his interest in fragrance to the family garden in Brittany and his brother’s enthusiasm for aromatic plants. Studies in art, chemistry and mathematics helped prepare him for a profession where scientific knowledge and creative imagination work together. His career developed through Quest and Givaudan.

For Memo Paris, he created Sicilian Leather, a composition shaped by the island’s vegetation, sea air and volcanic landscape. The project reflects a wider interest in translating places and atmospheres into scent, using a setting as a starting point for an individual olfactory story.

Vasnier also speaks about the tactile and emotional qualities of materials. Discussing Suite 909 for Réservation, he described an interplay of cashmere, velvet and modern architectural surfaces, expressed through warm, persistent woody notes. His approach invites fragrance to suggest both an environment and the feeling of being within it, from the energy of travel to the comfort of a private refuge.
