Zavelier · The perfumers
A perfumer’s apprenticeship with a musician’s sense of composition
Vincent Ricord grew up in Grasse in a family connected to perfumery. A school internship at thirteen introduced him to the working studio, where hearing perfumers discuss their creations made the profession tangible. As a young adult, he considered art and music before choosing fragrance.
His training followed a practical route. A meeting with Jacques Lions led to an internship, work in several departments and additional study of raw materials and accords. Experience across French fragrance houses eventually brought him to CPL Aromas in 2020, where he worked on fine fragrance, home scent and personal care projects.
Music remains a useful comparison for his creative process. Ricord has described imagining himself as a film composer seeking an accord that fits a particular scene. Colors, travel, food and visual art also feed his ideas. Across different applications, the purpose is consistent: to turn a technically constructed formula into a recognizable emotional experience.
