Decades of Swiss craftsmanship, one composition at a time

Urs Castelletti built his career at the Swiss fragrance house LUZI, developing his craft over more than three decades. His path began in the laboratory, working closely with formulas and materials. LUZI lists him as a principal perfumer, reflecting a long professional commitment to fragrance creation.

His practice includes both personal fragrances and the composition of bakhoor, the scented materials used to perfume spaces, clothes and hair in Middle Eastern traditions. LUZI has highlighted his expertise in this field, showing how a perfumer’s knowledge can move between different ways of experiencing scent.

For Kajal, Castelletti co-created Faris with David Chieze. He has described the act of composition through the analogy of a puzzle, in which separate elements must be brought into a coherent relationship. The fragrance offers an accessible introduction to that collaborative work, connecting fresh aromatic notes, flowers, spices and a woody base.
