Guerlain’s heritage, sustained through ingredients and craft

Thierry Wasser became Guerlain’s in-house perfumer in 2008, following a career at Givaudan and Firmenich. His background includes the study of botany and professional perfumery training at Givaudan, bringing a close interest in plants together with the technical demands of fragrance composition.

Before joining Guerlain, his work included Dior Addict and collaborations on Lancôme Hypnôse. His appointment placed him within a house whose creative history reaches back to 1828, with responsibility for developing new fragrances while understanding the materials and methods that give the existing collection its identity.

Wasser’s role also extends to ingredient sourcing. Traveling to meet growers and producers connects the perfume studio to the places where natural materials originate. This practical attention to supply and quality is part of his approach to creation, alongside the ongoing exchange between Guerlain’s heritage and contemporary ideas.
