A botanical imagination shaped by science and the garden
Suzy Le Helley grew up in Foix, near the Pyrenees, with an interest in both art and science. A school chemistry lesson introduced her to careers in perfume and cosmetics, revealing a profession that could connect her enthusiasm for plants, taste and scientific investigation. Her professional path brought her to Symrise in 2014.
Her earliest scent memories include freshly cut grass and a childhood vegetable garden, where she had space for her own fragrant plants. Lily of the valley, honeysuckle, hyacinths and a cutting from her grandmother’s rose helped develop an attentive relationship with the living world.
Le Helley began formulating alongside Annick Menardo. She identifies Nuage Cerisier from Kenzo’s Memori collection as her first personal fragrance created entirely on her own, following an early scented-candle project. Travel and photography continue her botanical exploration, offering observations that can become the starting point for new accords and compositions.
