A traveler’s eye and a perfumer’s instinct for storytelling

Sonia Constant trained at ISIPCA while gaining practical experience at Givaudan, the fragrance house where she built her professional career. Before discovering perfumery, she had considered design, fashion and architecture. Fragrance offered a way to bring that creative interest together with her longstanding attraction to flowers and scent.

Alongside commissions for international brands, Constant co-founded Ella K Parfums as a setting for more personal expression. The house connects individual fragrances to moments, landscapes and emotions encountered through travel. A camera and notebook help her retain impressions, while scent-capture technology provides another way to investigate unfamiliar natural smells.

Her approach leaves room for the wearer’s own interpretation. A composition may begin with her memory, but she wants other people to discover their own associations within it. The relationship between close observation and intuition helps explain the breadth of her work, from fashion-house signatures to the more autobiographical stories of Ella K.
