Zavelier · The perfumers
An independent heroine, imagined through fragrance
Romano Ricci founded Juliette Has a Gun in 2006, giving the house a contemporary heroine inspired by Shakespeare’s Juliet. A great-grandson of Nina Ricci, he established a creative identity of his own, bringing together fragrance, names and visual storytelling under his direction.
Ricci describes his education as practical rather than school based. Before launching the house, he spent seven years working in perfumery, including three at France Fragrance, and learned through contact with creators such as Pierre Bourdon, Francis Kurkdjian, Isabelle Maillebiau and Philippe Romano. His role combines entrepreneurship and artistic direction with an intimate involvement in fragrance development.
The collection presents perfume as an expression of character and independence. Its deliberately provocative names are part of that storytelling: each fragrance offers another attitude for the wearer to inhabit. Ricci’s interest in questioning established conventions gives the house a coherent voice across very different scents.
