Zavelier · The perfumers
A Damascus childhood and a creative interest in accords that move the emotions
Randa Hammami was born in Damascus, where the smells of jasmine, rose and honeysuckle became early memories. Her mother’s Guerlain perfumes supplied another personal connection with fragrance.
She discovered the profession of perfumer-creator while working in cosmetology at Dragoco. A new accord and the emotion it produced became central sources of motivation, with an idea developing first on paper and then through a formula.
Her work includes Van Cleef & Arpels Orchidée Vanille, Amouage Epic Man and Guerlain Cruel Gardénia. In a first-person interview with Sylvaine Delacourte, Hammami described favourite materials ranging from flowers and green notes to vanilla, tonka and musks. For Vahina, the aim was an orange-blossom impression that felt like walking beneath a flowering tree. Her practice connects personal sensory memory with the careful balancing of materials and the emotional effect of the finished perfume.
