Zavelier · The perfumers
A visual artistic background and a long practice at Robertet
Michèle Saramito was born in Cannes into a family connected with perfumery. She trained at Robertet’s internal school, developing a career that included work for Amouage, Parfums de Marly and Jovoy.
Painting and drawing form part of her wider artistic background. Fragrance became another way to express that sensitivity, using materials and proportion to communicate an atmosphere rather than an image on a page.
Her work includes Ptisenbon for Tartine et Chocolat, launched in the 1980s, which helped establish her interest in fresh fragrance forms. Her influence also extends through teaching: Fabrice Pellegrin has identified her among the perfumers with whom he apprenticed. Saramito’s career therefore links individual compositions with the quieter transmission of material knowledge, helping another generation develop the judgement and experience needed to create fragrances of their own.
