A Grasse apprenticeship, Middle Eastern experience and a commitment to teaching
Marc Zini grew up in Grasse in a family of Italian origin, developing an interest in smells through the town’s flower fields. After studying accounting, he joined Charabot’s research laboratory in 1977 and spent two years at its perfumery school.
His work developed a particular connection with warm and amber compositions. From 1993, regular travel in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman broadened his understanding of Middle Eastern materials and fragrance culture, alongside projects in European markets.
Zini later joined Robertet and became involved with students entering its perfumery school in 2018. Passing on practical knowledge is an important part of his professional biography. His credited work includes Maison Crivelli Iris Malikhân, among other fine fragrances. The career connects formal apprenticeship, international experience and mentorship, with emotion remaining a central starting point for the act of composing.
