An early fascination with capturing the smells of nature

Kévin Mathys grew up in the French countryside and began experimenting with scent as a child, mixing colognes and placing rose petals in water in an attempt to capture their smell.

He studied in Montpellier with perfumer Sebastian Reuter as a mentor before joining CPL Aromas in Dubai. In the house’s 2022 interview, Mathys described a fascination with the fact that a smell can be so vivid while remaining impossible to hold or see.

That curiosity connects his early experiments with the professional task of composition: finding ingredients that can give an impression a stable, recognisable form. His move to Dubai also placed his work within a region with a strong and distinctive perfume culture. The fragrances below provide an introduction to the compositions represented at Zavelier, with the relevant shared credits retained where several perfumers worked together.
