Zavelier · The perfumers
Classical training informed by a broad cultural curiosity
Kamila Lelakova’s early scent memories come from pine forests, mountains and fields of wheat and barley. She discovered the fragrance profession later, with perfumer Jeanne-Marie Faugier helping her imagine a career built around materials and emotion.
Her training took place inside Aromatic Flavours & Fragrances in the United Kingdom, subsequently acquired by CPL Aromas. She began with the origins and smells of natural and synthetic ingredients, then progressed through accords and compositions for home fragrance, personal care, household products and fine fragrance.
Alongside that apprenticeship, Lelakova completed a Diploma in Aroma Trades Studies through Plymouth University’s ICATS programme. Her creative process includes discussion with evaluation and marketing colleagues, while personal projects may begin with an image, a memory or even a name. In a first-person interview, she emphasises cultural understanding, curiosity and continuing to smell as essential ways to keep learning.
