Zavelier · The perfumers
A business student who found a different vocation in perfume
Julien Rasquinet initially studied business. During an internship in New York at a fragrance company, experimenting with raw materials introduced him to another possible career: he wanted to create perfumes himself.
Training with Pierre Bourdon became a formative part of that change of direction. Rasquinet later developed an independent practice and worked on commissions for different fragrance houses before joining CPL Aromas in 2023.
His career includes a creative relationship with Frédéric Malle, where The Moon offered a setting for a rich composition connected with Middle Eastern fragrance culture. Across projects, storytelling provides a thread: a place, an atmosphere or an imagined scene can become the starting point for a formula. Rasquinet’s path shows how a professional education may begin outside chemistry or a family perfume business, then develop through close mentorship, patient material study and the experience of answering very different creative briefs.
