Zavelier · The perfumers
From Burgundy to a broad world of independent fragrance and beauty
Jérôme Epinette grew up in Burgundy, where his mother’s perfume shops introduced him to fragrance. His studies included a master’s degree in biochemistry and training at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery before he joined Robertet in 2003.
His work for Byredo helped establish a wider reputation, followed by collaborations with houses including Atelier Cologne, Vilhelm Parfumerie, Floral Street and Zara. His practice has also extended into beauty and celebrity fragrance, including projects with Ariana Grande and Rare Beauty.
In interviews, Epinette discusses the relationship between his own preferences, particularly an interest in woods, and the identity of each client. Repeated partnerships give that dialogue room to develop across several compositions. Byredo De Los Santos received a Marie Claire international perfume award in 2023, while Rare Beauty’s first fragrance provided another setting for his work in 2025. The range connects a personal material vocabulary with very different creative worlds.
