Zavelier · The perfumers
A cross-cultural perspective and a strong connection to the wearer
Hamid Merati-Kashani was born in Germany to an Iranian father and a German mother, then grew up in Isfahan until 1979. Rose fields and the distillation of rose oil form part of his early scent memories.
His professional work at Firmenich has included international projects connected with Middle Eastern fragrance culture. He describes that culture as a source of learning, particularly its relationship with raw materials and the confidence with which people combine perfumes to create a personal scent.
Merati-Kashani places close attention to the client at the centre of his practice. Collaboration, sharing knowledge and learning from others are recurring themes in his professional biography. His stated ambition is to make fragrances that are bold and memorable. That aim is grounded in a background spanning different cultures and in a practical interest in how people actually use perfume, rather than only how a composition is presented at launch.
