Zavelier · The perfumers
A Mediterranean upbringing and an appetite for discovery
Dora Baghriche imagined becoming a writer or a field reporter before discovering perfumery and training at ISIPCA. The wish to explore and tell stories found a different form through fragrance.
She spent her childhood between Algiers and Paris, drawing on two cities and cultures. Both her grandmothers were pastry chefs, leaving vivid memories of pine-nut cream, cinnamon and almonds. These early experiences connected smell with food, affection and the pleasures of everyday life.
Her travels later extended from Mediterranean landscapes to Asia and New York, where she also lived. An interest in music, film and other artists has continued to broaden that sensory education. Her commissions include the Happy Chopard collection, alongside work represented below. Baghriche’s published accounts place curiosity at the centre of her practice: noticing people and places, following an unfamiliar association and finding the materials that can translate an impression into a perfume.
