Philosophy, fashion and a fragrance language without cliché

Daniela Andrier studied philosophy at the Sorbonne before discovering that perfumery could become her profession. An internship with Jacques Polge at Chanel opened that path, followed by experience at Robertet and training at Roure in Grasse.

After her studies, she worked as Édouard Fléchier’s assistant. In a later interview, she recalled treating even the smallest early projects with complete commitment. Her subsequent career at Givaudan developed into a long creative relationship with Prada, including Les Infusions, and the fragrance identity of Miu Miu.

Andrier’s work connects intellectual curiosity with the immediate, physical pleasure of a smell. She has spoken about building unexpected combinations while avoiding familiar shortcuts and clichés. That approach can be explored through both her individual creations and collaborative projects, including Yves Saint Laurent MYSLF. In 2025, the Fragrance Foundation recognised her wider contribution with its Lifetime Achievement Perfumer Award.
