Christophe Raynaud | Perfumer

Zavelier · The perfumers

Collecting impressions and turning them into memorable perfumes

Christophe Raynaud developed an ambition to become a perfumer during his teenage years, after first imagining a career as a veterinarian. His early professional work took place in smaller fragrance companies before a succession of major launches brought wider recognition.

His portfolio includes the shared creation of Paco Rabanne 1 Million, alongside commissions such as Carner Barcelona D600, Roberto Cavalli Uomo and Carolina Herrera Good Girl Blush. In a 2024 interview, he was introduced as Givaudan’s vice-president perfumer for fine fragrance.

Raynaud describes creation as an activity that continues beyond the laboratory. Travel, everyday encounters and spontaneous ideas can lead him back to a formula even while away from work. He pays close attention to the smells people value in different cultures, including ideas of freshness and cleanliness. That habit of collecting impressions supplies raw creative material, which must then be translated into a clear, wearable composition.
