Zavelier · The perfumers
From a travelling musician to an international perfumer
Christian Provenzano began his working life as a guitarist, travelling around Europe with a band. At nineteen, he took a laboratory job in Amsterdam, where a perfumer recognised his aptitude and encouraged him to train professionally.
After perfumery school, he returned as a trainee and later worked in the United Kingdom before joining CPL Aromas. His long association with the house developed into a senior creative leadership role, alongside commissions for fragrance brands and the development of his own collection.
Provenzano has spoken with particular enthusiasm about Middle Eastern perfume culture: its interest in materials, its openness to rich compositions and the knowledge with which people wear and layer fragrance. That experience informs a practice extending across markets and styles. His career also includes mentoring younger creators, connecting practical laboratory experience with the transmission of a craft learned through observation, repetition and close work with other perfumers.
