Calice Becker | Perfumer

Creating modern classics and passing on the craft

Calice Becker began her formal perfumery training at Roure in Grasse in 1985. Her subsequent career at Givaudan has combined fragrance creation with an important role in educating new perfumers, including directing the Givaudan Perfumery School.

Her work includes Tommy Girl for Tommy Hilfiger and J’Adore for Dior, alongside a long collaboration with Kilian. These different projects demonstrate the range of a career that has helped shape contemporary fine fragrance, from widely recognised launches to collections developed in a close relationship with a founder.

In 2021, the Fragrance Foundation awarded Becker its Lifetime Achievement Perfumer honour. Givaudan’s announcement recognised both her creative accomplishments and her contribution to the next generation. Her public reflections on perfume connect creation with memory and human experience. That combination of composition and mentorship makes her work significant not only through individual fragrances, but through the knowledge she has helped transmit.
