Zavelier · The perfumers
A new generation rooted in Grasse’s raw-material heritage
Antoine Cotton was born in Grasse and grew up in nearby Cabris. Family connections to the cultivation and extraction of fragrance materials gave him an early understanding of the region’s perfume culture. Conversations with perfumers and visits to laboratories helped turn that background into a professional ambition.
He studied at the École Supérieure du Parfum in Paris and joined Argeville as a junior perfumer in 2022 after a series of internships. His training involved both formulation and the wider industry, from materials to evaluation and market understanding.
Cotton’s collaboration with Roja Dove introduced his work to a broader audience. Elysium Noir explores a darker interpretation of the Elysium family while maintaining a relationship to its original freshness. In interviews, Cotton stresses the value of visiting growing regions and understanding how an ingredient is cultivated and used in its own culture before exploring what it might become in a perfume.
