Zavelier · The perfumers
A Spanish perspective expressed through colour and scent
Ane Ayo grew up in Bilbao, where the ocean and the landscapes of northern Spain shaped her early sensory memories. She initially studied pharmacy. An article about Alberto Morillas helped her recognise perfumery as a possible career, leading to further studies in fragrance and fashion management and training at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery.
Her education and working life have taken her through several countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany and France. At Grasse, Philippe Roman was an important mentor. The combination of scientific study and a close education in raw materials provided the foundations for her creative work.
Ayo describes a strongly visual imagination: paintings, fashion, dance, fabrics and colour can all suggest a fragrance direction. Travel and food supply further ideas. Her Flower Shop collection, including Lavender Memory and Tuberose Saffron, reflects that interest in giving floral subjects a personal setting. Trust and open exchange are central to how she approaches a collaboration.
