Zavelier · The perfumers
An independent studio shaped by memories and experimentation
Amélie Bourgeois came to perfumery through cosmetology, where fragrance extracts drew her attention. An internship at Cinquième Sens became a seven-year period of learning and practice. She later co-founded the independent Parisian creation studio FLAIR with Anne-Sophie Behaghel.
In a first-person interview, Bourgeois connects her sensitivity to smell with childhood memories of the beaches of the Landes and the fields of Picardy. These are lived environments rather than abstract perfume themes: materials, places and experiences that can be recalled and reworked through composition.
Her independent practice has included creations for houses such as BDK Parfums and Frapin. Rouge Smoking, French Bouquet and Les Jeux Sont Faits offer different points of entry into that work. At FLAIR, a direct relationship between the perfumer and the brand allows the initial idea to be explored through discussion, experimentation and successive versions, with emotion guiding the technical work.
