Alberto Morillas | Perfumer

Zavelier · The perfumers

From fine art to fragrances known around the world

Born in Seville, Alberto Morillas brought an interest in art and the smells of everyday life to his career in fragrance. After studying at Geneva’s School of Fine Arts, he joined Firmenich in 1970. His early work included learning about raw materials and the chemistry used to reconstruct natural smells.

Must de Cartier, launched in 1981, was an important early milestone. His later career includes CK One, Acqua di Giò, Flower by Kenzo and other widely recognised fragrances, often developed through collaboration. In interviews, he describes creation as an evolving dialogue: the brief, the materials and repeated modifications all help shape the finished perfume.

Morillas also founded Mizensir with his wife, Claudine, in 1999, beginning with scented candles before developing a perfume collection. It provides a more personal setting for his interest in ingredients and atmosphere. His work bridges the scale of international fragrance launches and the intimacy of an independently developed collection.
